I’m Sarah, a mum, teacher and the author of 50 Days of River. I write about life with my autistic son, River, sharing the reality of parenting a child who experiences the world a little differently.
This website is where it all began. What started as a way to process our days during one long summer became a place to connect with other families, raise awareness of autism, and celebrate the joy, the chaos and all the little moments in between. I’m always honest, mostly hopeful, and I try to find the humour wherever I can.
Those original posts eventually became my book, 50 Days of River. If you’d like to read the full story, you can find it here.
It all started as a blog to get me through the 50 days of the UK summer holidays.

Days out can look very different when your child experiences the world differently. These are the places we’ve visited as a family, with honest reviews, practical tips and the things I wish I’d known before we went. What worked, what didn’t, and what I’d do differently next time.

This is River and I.
I don’t have all the answers. I’m just sharing our family’s story in the hope that another parent feels understood, or someone leaves with a better understanding of autism.
